Most missed deadlines are not caused by laziness. They happen because tasks are scattered across notebooks, apps and memory. A simple system keeps everything in one place.
1. Use One Planner
Choose one place for every assignment: a paper planner, Google Calendar, or a to-do app. Write the task, the subject and the due date as soon as it is given.
2. Break Big Tasks Into Steps
“Write history essay” is hard to start. Break it into: choose question → find 3 sources → make notes → outline → draft → edit → submit.
3. Plan Backwards From the Deadline
Put the due date in your calendar, then schedule each step before it. Aim to finish a day or two early to allow for problems.
4. Prioritise
Each day, pick the top three tasks. Consider both urgency (due soon) and importance (worth many marks).
5. Organise Your Files
- One folder per subject, on paper and on your computer.
- Clear file names: Biology_Lab3_Draft_2026-10-28.
- Back up important work to cloud storage.
6. Keep a Checklist for Each Assignment
Copy the requirements from the task sheet or rubric: word count, format, references, submission method. Tick them off before you submit.
7. Do a Weekly Review
Every Sunday, spend 15 minutes checking upcoming deadlines, updating your planner and planning study time for the week.
8. Ask Early
If instructions are unclear, ask your teacher in the first few days, not the night before.
