Step Up For Students is a non-profit organisation that administers most of Florida’s K-12 school choice scholarships. These scholarships help families pay for private school tuition, home education costs, therapies and tutoring.

Who Is Eligible?
Since 2023, Florida’s main scholarships have been open to all school-age Florida residents, regardless of income. However, families with incomes at or below 300% of the federal poverty level get priority if demand exceeds funding. FES-UA requires a qualifying diagnosis, and New Worlds and Hope have their own criteria.
How Much Are They Worth?
Amounts vary by county and grade. Average awards have been around $8,000 for FTC, FES-EO and PEP, and often around $10,000 or more for FES-UA. Check the official site for your situation.
How to Apply
- Create a family account on the Step Up For Students portal.
- Choose the scholarship that fits your child.
- Upload documents such as proof of Florida residency and age, income proof (for priority), or diagnosis records (for FES-UA).
- Submit and track your application in the portal.
- Returning families must reapply each year.
Apply early, as some funding is limited. Hope Scholarship applications are accepted year-round.
