The University of Alabama (UA) is known for generous automatic merit scholarships for out-of-state and international students. If you meet the GPA and test score requirements, you can receive substantial money every year without a separate application.

The Presidential Elite award includes tuition for up to four years, first-year housing, a $1,500 annual supplement and a one-time $2,000 research or study-abroad allowance.
Important Rules
- Only official ACT composite or SAT total scores count; UA does not superscore.
- GPA is considered through the end of junior year.
- Students without test scores can still be considered for competitive scholarships.
Deadlines (2027 Entry)
- Spring 2027: application and official scores by 2 November 2026
- Summer/Fall 2027: application and official scores by 4 December 2026
Competitive Scholarships
UA also awards competitive scholarships through holistic review, including the UA Competitive Admissions Scholarship and the UA Competitive Achievement Scholarship for students with national distinction in their field.
