The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship is the University of Toronto’s most prestigious award for international undergraduates. It recognises students with outstanding academic achievement, creativity and leadership in their school and community.

What It Covers
Tuition, books, incidental fees and full residence support for four years of undergraduate study at U of T. About 37 Pearson Scholars are selected each year.
Eligibility
- International student who will need a Canadian study permit.
- In the final year of secondary school in 2026/27, or graduated no earlier than June 2026.
- Starting a first undergraduate degree at U of T in September 2027.
- Not already in post-secondary study.
How the Nomination Works
You cannot apply on your own. Your high school must nominate you, and each school can nominate only one student per year. If your school has never taken part, it must register first. After you are nominated and have applied to U of T, you receive a private link to the scholarship application.
2027 Deadlines
- 9 October 2026: school nomination deadline (and deadline for new schools to register)
- 16 October 2026: apply to U of T
- 6 November 2026: submit the Pearson scholarship application and documents
If you missed the 2027 cycle, talk to your school counsellor in the summer of 2027 for the next round.
Important Rules
- The programme does not work with agents. Nominations come only through your school.
- U of T does not allow generative AI tools to write application content; violations lead to disqualification.

- Show genuine leadership and impact in your school and community.
- Write honest, personal answers in your own voice.
